Manchester United legend discusses future role at the club
Former Manchester United goal keeper Edwin Van dar sar has been speaking to the media over a future role at his former club.
The Dutch international managed 266 appearances for the Red devil averaging 135 clean sheets in his six years spell winning the premier league four times & among the team that lifted the 2008 edition of the UEFA Champions League in Moscow.
Edwin retired from professional football in the summer of 2011 and became Ajax's CEO in 2016 a period the club flourished under now Man United Manager, Erik Ten Hag. He went on to resign from his role at Ajax in the summer of 2023 and he is currently considering the next step in his career.
Speaking to the media he said;
“I do think I want to take the next step - I will have to find a new goal. For a long time, I had the goal of bringing Ajax up to the European top. Now, I have temporarily lost my goal, but I will find it at some point.”
Edwin who has constantly been linked to his former club, Manchester United quickly added;
“I think there are enough Dutchmen (at Manchester United) at the moment. Let those men get to work on the field. I don’t know if I want to work fifty or sixty hours again. Will it be individual projects, something with a federation or something in sports? I have no idea yet. But sports are appealing. That’s the best thing there is.”
We won't be seeing Edwin take up any management role at Manchester United imminently. For the future, well, we will have to figure that out.
